Vivian Owens taught chemistry, math, and physics in the public and private schools of Virginia, before teaching similar courses in Florida. She led her chemistry students to a 100% pass rate on Virginia’s Chemistry Standards of Learning Tests. Along a parallel track to teaching, Vivian wrote books and developed workshops—most notably, the Parenting for Education Workshops. She is a wife and the mother of three adult children. Throughout the years, volunteerism played an important role for Vivian’s family. Currently, Vivian serves on the board of The Lake County Historical Society and Young Families Health Initiatives.
Vivian’s latest book, Parenting for Education: Revised Edition received awards from the Florida Authors and Publishers Association and from the Mom’s Choice Awards. The first edition of Parenting for Education was selected as a “Resource in Education.” Known also for her children’s books, Vivian Owens pursues a goal to tell stories that invite all children to enjoy reading, as they explore multicultural worlds they may not have previously visited. A Christmas e-book for children and families will be published during the holiday season.
