Cindy Stalnaker lives in Cabot, Arkansas, with her husband. She loved homeschooling her two children who have since grown into successful adults. She sees the benefits of homeschooling and contributes part of her own children’s success to their homeschool experience. Her interests include singing in the choir and teaching kids at church.

Civil Rights Movement: What brought about the Civil Rights movement? What were some of the flash points that took place during it? Who were the men and women who led the movement, and how did their beliefs differ from one another? Those are a few of the questions this semester-long study of the civil rights movement will address. Students will look at the beginning of slavery in the United States, the boycotts and sit ins, and the people involved in the movement. They will have the opportunity to read related literature, answer questions, create a timeline, think critically about what they learn, and more.

Native American History: An Introduction: Through this course, students learn about Native American tribes of the Northeast, Southeast, Great Plains, Northwest, Great Basin, Southwest, and Arctic as well as the Trail of Tears and various treaties with the Native Americans. Students will also read at least two books and complete two book reports.
