Amber Smith

Lesson Designer

Amber Smith lives in Southern Iowa with her chef husband, Doug, and their 10 wild children (ages 4, 5, 7, 8, 10, 11, 12, 14, 15, and 16). She has pursued a creative life, the restaurant business and homeschooling a large family with humor, a journal and, with God’s help, has learned a ton about what really matters along the way. Her strong desire to help caregivers avoid burnout led her to start blogging at 200fingersandtoes.com. There she shares practical ideas for caregivers, to help keep their personal goals and dreams moving in a forward motion. She believes that self-care should be a priority in a homeschool parent’s life and that learning new things should never end at any age.

“The care and nurturing of my own soul is the best activity I did for my homeschool. I want other parents to finish strong in their homeschool experience as well, no matter what their circumstances by applying these same principles.” – Amber Smith

In Due Season: What if the middle of your homeschooling years could be as exciting as that first one? In Due Season is a series for the long middle stretch before you. Beginnings are great, and planning for the end is satisfying, but the middle can be a long, winding, uncharted road. This series is full of monthly encouragement for the time in between that anxious first day and the moment you walk your child down the aisle in their cap and gown.
