Course Sample for Weekly Writing Challenge
Welcome to Writing Challenge!
This course offers multiple writing challenges for you to get your creative juices flowing and practice your writing skills.
Looking at how other books are written can help authors with their own writings. For that reason, you will need to choose a book beginning with Challenge 8 to study a main character, setting, problem/challenge, and solutions to the problem or challenge. Even a picture book can be used for these challenges as long as it has a main character, setting, problem/challenge, and a solution to the problem or challenge that can be written about.
I hope you enjoy each of the writing challenges presented within this course and that you are able to learn a little something about writing in the process.
Please grab a notebook and writing utensil. Are you ready? Let’s begin!
Challenge 1: The Importance of Writing
Do you think writing is important? Why or why not?
Please make sure to write your answers to these questions in your notebook before reading the rest of this page.
How many sentences did you write to answer these questions?
I think writing is very important. Think of all the things you read.
Books, newspaper articles, greeting cards, signs, songs,
directions for games, and much more may not exist
without someone writing them.
Even people who don’t have jobs as authors or writers need to
know how to write. People may need to write a resume to get a job.
They may have to write emails or letters to other people they work with.
Can you think of other things people may need to write?
You may write entries in a journal, emails, texts, thank you cards,
get well cards, essays, short stories, and so much more.
Writing things down can help you remember them better.
Writing can also make you more creative as you use your imagination to write.
Have you ever gotten a card written by someone you love?
Writing can encourage and inspire others.
Think of your favorite books. Writing can be entertaining.
Writing can also be educational and help you learn.
It’s hard to imagine a world with no writing. Isn’t it?
