More About Our Homeschool Language Arts Daily Grammar Practice Courses
Daily Grammar 1st Grade: If the idea of teaching grammar and sentence skills to your young child through hands-on activities is appealing, then this is the course for you! Daily Grammar 1st Grade is a year-long course that provides 108 lessons in early grammar and mechanics skills. It is designed to be completed in 3 lessons per week over 36 weeks for a comfortable pace; however, it may easily be adjusted for fewer or more weeks, as desired. Written from a language development perspective, each concept is first introduced through auditory and exploratory activities (receptive), and then the student is encouraged to apply the skill through a combination of verbal, hands-on, and paper/pencil exercises (expressive). Plenty of review is built in, using a spiral approach to encourage mastery of skills within meaningful contexts. Extension activities challenge the student to take concepts a step further and tap into the child’s overall cognitive and literacy development. Paper/pencil and reading tasks are included but can easily be adapted if necessary without losing the learning opportunities available for a concept.
During the year, your student will learn about parts of speech, capitalization, punctuation, sentence construction, synonyms/antonyms, and much more. The course follows a predictable “learn it, try it, review it, expand it” format, with scripted lessons so that both parent and student can anticipate the routine and be successful. Minimal preparation means that more time can be spent enjoying the learning process with your child!
