High School Literature from a Biblical Perspective

Day 1
- Open the files for Day 1, watch the PowerPoint presentation, and do the PowerPoint starter.
- Read the text extract as directed in the PowerPoint.
- While you are studying the foundations of modern English literature, you will also be studying the foundations of who we are as the Body of Christ in the books of Romans to Philemon. These are the books the risen, ascended, glorified Christ gave to Paul the Apostle for the Gentiles. This will prepare you to apply a biblical understanding to everything else you do in life and walk through this world in a way that will bring honor and glory to God. Each day you will read approximately five chapters beginning with Romans 1–5 today.
Day 2
- Open the files for Day 2, watch the PowerPoint presentation, and complete assignments as directed in the PowerPoint.
- Read Romans 6–10.
Day 3
- Open the files for Day 3, watch the PowerPoint presentation, and do the PowerPoint starter.
- Read “Jabberwocky” as directed in the PowerPoint and complete assignments.
- Read Romans 11–16.
Day 4
- Open the files for Day 4, watch the PowerPoint presentation, and do the PowerPoint starter.
- Complete further assignments on “Jabberwocky” as directed in the PowerPoint.
- Read 1 Corinthians 1–5.
Day 5
- Today complete Week 1 of your homework assignment as mentioned in the Day 1 PowerPoint. Keep this available, as you will be using it at the end of each week.
- Reread five of your favorite chapters of Scripture from this week.
I am putting the list of authors to choose from here just in case you haven’t chosen yet.
As part of this unit of work, you will be producing a research project for homework. Each week, you will have a different task to complete. Your project can be on any of the following pre-1914 writers:
- Jane Austen
- Emily Bronte
- Lewis Carroll
- Geoffrey Chaucer
- Daniel Defoe
- Charles Dickens
- Thomas Hardy
- Mary Shelley
- Percy Bysshe Shelley
- Jonathan Swift
Use your homework sheet to complete your homework each week. You will work on this each Friday as well as a couple of additional days throughout the unit.
Day 6
- Open the files for Day 6, watch the PowerPoint presentation, and do the PowerPoint starter.
- Complete all studies and activities as directed in the PowerPoint.
- Read 1 Corinthians 6–10.
Day 7
- Open the files for Day 7, watch the PowerPoint presentation, and complete assignments as directed in the PowerPoint using the excerpt from Frankenstein.
- Read 1 Corinthians 11–16.
Day 8
- Open the files for Day 8, watch the PowerPoint presentation, and complete assignments as directed in the PowerPoint. (The excerpts include a lower level and an advanced level.)
- Read 2 Corinthians 1–5
Day 9
- Open the files for Day 9, watch the PowerPoint presentation, and complete assignments as directed in the PowerPoint.
- Read 2 Corinthians 6–10.
Day 10
- Complete Week 2 of your homework assignment.
- Reread five of your favorite chapters of Scripture from this week.
Day 11
- Open the files for Day 11, watch the PowerPoint presentation, and complete assignments as directed in the PowerPoint.
- Read 2 Corinthians 11–13.
Day 12

- Read Galatians 1–6.
Day 13

- Read Ephesians 1–6.
Day 14

- Read Philippians 1–4.
Day 15
