How to Use This Course

Lighting the Way is a video-based elementary history series that studies the lives of heroes of the Christian faith through animated stories and downloadable workbooks. Men and women from the time of the early Church through the modern day are discussed.

Course Introduction

Lighting the Way includes fifteen episodes from the popular Torchlighters series and three episodes from the Children’s Heroes from Christian History series. Torchlighters is a series of animated programs for youth ages 8-12 that presents the lives of true-life heroes from Christian history. When kids see what God can do through a “Torchlighter” who is devoted to carrying out His will and purposes, they too may want to carry a torch of faith by serving Him. Children’s Heroes from Christian History is dedicated to awakening the imagination of children as they see how God has worked through the most unlikely instruments, men and women who faced seemingly insurmountable challenges, but through God’s grace demonstrated the life-changing power of the Gospel.

Heroes included in this course include Perpetua, Augustine, William Tyndale, John Bunyan, John Wesley, William Booth, Amy Carmichael, Samuel Morris, Corrie Ten Boom, Eric Liddell, Gladys Aylward, Richard Wurmbrand, Martin Luther, Robert Jermain Thomas, Jim Elliot, David Livingstone, Mary Jones, William Wilberforce, William Carey, Robert Raikes, Hans Egede, Sundar Singh, John Paton, Ludwig Nommensen, and Pastor Damien. 10 ½ hours of video plus printable workbooks and worksheets are included.
