How to Use This Course
This unit will help you teach 15 poems, rhymes, and Scripture passages to young children. It is designed for kindergarten but can easily be used with children in grades K-2 with some slight modifications to some of the activities. Memorization and recitation are great tools to help children learn to follow directions and to speak clearly, as well as begin to develop important habits that will aid them with their studies as they grow older.
Welcome to Fun with Memorization! There are fifteen passages included in this unit, each designed to take one or two weeks, whatever works with your schedule. The final passage is an excerpt from Luke 2 and is designed to last two, three, or four weeks, depending on your schedule at this special time of year. These passages can be completed in any order, as you see fit.
Each passage, except the Christmas unit, which is arranged around one major project, includes two printable activities and suggestions for three or more hands-on activities that help reinforce the concepts in the passage. Each passage also includes a section at the end for you to make notes on ideas you’d like to try, supplies you need to gather, etc.
